Privacy Policy
Effective September 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Lessons in Line collects, uses, stores, and shares information when people use the website, private planner, assignment tracker, task organizer, and related account services.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how the service is used, we may collect:
- Administrator and account information: administrator name, email address, authentication account, access code, subscription or access type, access dates, and renewal information;
- Planner information: student names or nicknames, school dates and day types, subjects, assignments, personal tasks, activities, appointments, encouragements or instructions, completion activity, and other content an administrator or permitted student enters;
- LessonLine material: photographs or PDFs an authorized user chooses to upload, file names and technical details, detected assignments and lesson-day groups, selected students, subject or topic, starting date, calendar-day types, weekdays, duplicate-file information, and processing-usage information;
- TaskLine material: a photograph an administrator chooses to upload, its file name and technical details, an optional team or group label supplied for matching, detected dates and times, the activity names or notes the administrator enters, selected recipients, and processing information;
- Permissions and security information: whether the administrator confirmed that a student is age 13 or older, student permission settings, whether a tracker uses dated or undated view, whether a PIN is required, protected PIN-verification data, device names, device-approval requests and decisions, account and device identifiers, IP address, browser or device information, authentication events, and security or abuse-prevention signals;
- Operational account information: account-created date, last sign-in date, last workspace activity date, number of approved devices, and number of student trackers. Lessons in Line uses this limited information to administer access and understand whether an account is being used; the platform administrator does not use these statistics to view assignment or planner contents;
- Communications: messages and information you send when requesting support, an access code, approval, renewal, correction, or deletion; and
- Local browser data: account, planner, device, and completion information cached in localStorage, sessionStorage, or similar browser technologies so the service can remember the active user or workspace, work responsively, and synchronize with the cloud.
Please do not enter sensitive personal information. Except for the administrator email address used for account access, security, recovery, and service communications, Lessons in Line does not ask for anyone’s email address, home address, phone number, birthdate, precise location, medical information, or financial account number. Administrators and students should not put sensitive personal information in tracker names, subjects, assignments, lessons, tasks, encouragements, instructions, or other text fields.
2. How we use information
We use information to create and operate private workspaces; authenticate administrators; connect and manage administrator devices; approve student devices; verify student PINs; apply the permissions chosen for each tracker; display and synchronize calendars, day types, subjects, assignments, tasks, and completion activity; estimate and enforce LessonLine processing allowances; detect possible duplicate material; produce, save, and schedule assignment-review results; read dates and times for TaskLine; match an administrator-supplied team or group label when requested; enforce access periods; send requested account, security, code-recovery, device-approval, or support messages; prevent fraud and misuse; troubleshoot and improve the service; comply with law; and protect users, the service, and its owner.
3. Students and children
Lessons in Line is purchased and controlled by an adult administrator. An adult independent learner may administer their own workspace. Minor students must not provide administrator credentials, make purchases, or submit an email address to obtain access. The administrator supplies the student name or nickname, approves student devices, selects each student’s permissions, and may allow a student to enter planner content without giving that student access to billing, devices, workspace codes, or administrator settings.
Lessons in Line is intended for adults and students age 13 and older. Parents and legal guardians may create and manage planners for younger children, but children under 13 may not directly access or use Lessons in Line. An under-13 tracker must remain adult-managed and cannot receive Student Mode, a student PIN, independent access, or student-device access.
Lessons in Line does not ask a student user to provide an email address, birthdate, home address, telephone number, precise location, payment information, or administrator password. We collect no more information from a child than is reasonably necessary to provide the private planner and assignment-tracking service.
Administrators can review, correct, or delete student and planner information using the controls provided in their private workspace. For help deleting an entire account or information that cannot be removed through those controls, contact lessonsinline@gmail.com.
4. When information is shared
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use student planner information for targeted advertising. Information may be shared only:
- between authorized devices connected to the same private workspace so workspace information stays synchronized; this does not make the information public;
- with service providers that process information to operate, secure, host, authenticate, synchronize, or send service emails, including Google Firebase, Google Cloud, reCAPTCHA Enterprise/Firebase App Check, and Gmail;
- with OpenAI when an administrator chooses LessonLine; after a security scan, the clean photograph or PDF is sent to OpenAI to detect assignments, and the administrator must review and approve the results before they enter a student tracker;
- with OpenAI when an administrator chooses TaskLine; after a security scan, the clean selected photograph and any optional team or group label are sent to OpenAI to locate dates and times, and the administrator must name, review, and approve the tasks before they are added;
- to comply with law, legal process, or a valid government request; or
- when reasonably necessary to investigate misuse or protect rights, safety, property, users, or the service.
These providers act only as needed to deliver their services, but their systems and retention practices are governed by their own terms and privacy documentation. Google Firebase services may process account credentials, email addresses, IP addresses, user-agent information, identifiers, and service-use data to provide authentication, hosting, database, cloud-function, and security services. App Check and reCAPTCHA Enterprise may evaluate device and browser signals to help distinguish legitimate requests from abuse. OpenAI processes only the material submitted through an import feature and the accompanying instructions needed to return the requested result. Additional information is available in the provider resources below.
5. Cookies and local browser storage
Lessons in Line and its service providers use localStorage, sessionStorage, Firebase authentication storage, and similar technologies necessary to operate and secure the service. They remember the signed-in adult, active workspace and student, permissions, approved device, student PIN session, planner information, completion activity, and locally cached changes. Firebase App Check and reCAPTCHA Enterprise also process browser, device, IP-address, and security signals to prevent automated abuse.
Lessons in Line does not use this technology for behavioral advertising, targeted advertising, or building advertising profiles, and the website does not currently use Google Analytics. Blocking or clearing necessary browser storage may sign a user out or prevent parts of the planner from working or synchronizing correctly.
Choosing to take a photo opens the device camera after the user confirms and may cause the browser or device to request camera permission. Choosing an existing photo uses the device’s photo picker. Lessons in Line receives only the photo selected by the user.
6. Storage, retention, and deletion
Planner information is stored in Google Firebase/Google Cloud systems and may also be cached on approved browsers. Information may be processed in the United States and other locations where service providers operate.
LessonLine files are stored temporarily for security scanning and processing. They are deleted after processing and are also subject to automatic deletion within 24 hours as a backup for abandoned or interrupted imports. Detected assignment results may remain in the private workspace so the administrator can review or reuse them. Clean file contents are sent to OpenAI using the API request setting store: false. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default. The setting prevents application-state storage for the response, but OpenAI may retain limited API content in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days, or longer when legally required, under its published data-control practices.
TaskLine photographs are also stored temporarily for security scanning and processing, sent to OpenAI with store: false, and deleted after processing with the same automatic deletion backup. TaskLine is instructed to return only dates and times. It does not copy names or activity descriptions into tasks. An optional team or group label may be used only to locate matching schedule entries. The administrator enters the activity name and any notes and reviews the result before adding it to the private calendar. TaskLine limits each family to 10 successful photo analyses per calendar month, one event or related series per photo, and up to 25 returned dates per analysis.
Account and planner information is retained while the account is active and may be preserved after expiration to allow renewal or recovery. It is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, meet accounting requirements, or comply with law. When information is no longer reasonably needed for those purposes, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it. Cached information may remain on a device until the user logs out, clears site data, or the application removes it. Service-provider backups and security logs may remain for the limited periods described in those providers’ retention practices.
Administrators may delete individual planner items and student trackers through workspace controls. A signed-in administrator may permanently delete the entire account from Workspace Account after ending any active monthly subscription and completing the required security confirmation, or may request help by emailing lessonsinline@gmail.com. Account deletion removes the active workspace, its student trackers, connected-device identities, and the administrator authentication account. Limited deletion, payment, consent, fraud-prevention, security, accounting, or legal records may be retained when reasonably necessary or required by law.
7. Security
Lessons in Line uses measures intended to protect information, including Firebase Authentication, workspace-scoped database rules, connected-device controls, Firebase App Check, one-way salted hashing for student PINs, and encrypted HTTPS connections. No Internet service or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Administrators are responsible for protecting their email account, password, workspace code, Administrator Mode Code, student PINs, and trusted devices and for promptly removing access that should no longer be authorized.
8. Your choices and rights
Administrators can review, correct, and delete student and planner information using the controls provided in their private workspace. We may need to verify the requester’s identity and authority before responding to a privacy request. You may clear local browser data through browser settings, but doing so may sign out or remove locally cached information. Depending on where you live, additional privacy rights may apply.
9. Payments
Online payments are securely processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and processes payment-card and billing information under its own privacy policy. Lessons in Line receives payment status, plan, transaction, customer, and subscription information needed to issue or renew access, but does not store a customer's full payment-card number.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the service, providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be revised when an updated policy is published. Material changes may also be communicated through the service or by email when appropriate.
