Children’s Privacy and Age Policy

Lessons in Line is intended for adults and students age 13 and older. Parents and legal guardians may create and manage planners for younger children, but children under 13 may not directly access or use Lessons in Line.

Adult-managed planners for younger children

An adult administrator may create and manage a tracker for a child under 13. The adult—not the child—must operate Lessons in Line.

An under-13 tracker must remain adult-managed. A child under 13 may not receive Student Mode, a student PIN, Independent Student access, an approved student device, LessonLine access, or TaskLine access.

Age confirmation and access

Before enabling direct student access, the administrator must confirm that the student is age 13 or older. Trackers without that confirmation are hidden from student devices and blocked by server-side access controls.

If we learn that a direct user is under 13

We may disable the child’s direct access, PIN, and student-device authorization. The adult-managed planner may remain available to its administrator. We may delete or otherwise handle information collected from the child as required by applicable law.

Privacy

Lessons in Line is a private, ad-free planning service. Planner information is not posted publicly or sold for targeted advertising. Adults should use a nickname when appropriate and avoid entering unnecessary sensitive information in planner fields or uploaded material.

LessonLine and TaskLine are adult-operated organizational tools. For LessonLine, Lessons in Line temporarily stores and malware-scans the selected file, sends clean file contents to OpenAI to detect assignments, and deletes uploads after processing and automatically within 24 hours as a backup. For TaskLine, Lessons in Line receives only the photograph the adult selects, temporarily stores and scans it, sends it to OpenAI using store: false to detect dates and times, and deletes it on the same schedule.
